🌿 About Evolved Living

with Josie Jarvis, OT, OTD
Applied Occupational Science | Folk Art Revival | Creative Systems Change

✨ A Living Conversation Between Science, Story, and Soul

Evolved Living is a home for interdisciplinary dialogue at the crossroads of applied occupational science, folk art and wisdom practices, and creative system transformation.

Here, I write and share conversations about what it means to practice, create, and care within and beyond institutional walls — drawing from both the academic roots of occupational science and the ancestral and artistic roots of community healing.

This publication is for the thinkers, makers, and bridge-builders who believe that evidence and intuition, research and ritual, are all part of the same living ecosystem.

Through essays, podcast episodes, interviews, and creative reflections, Evolved Living explores how arts, crafts, and collective care can restore meaning to modern systems of health, education, and livelihood.

🪶 About Josie Jarvis

I’m an occupational therapist, applied occupational scientist, and writer with over a decade of practice across the lifespan — from pediatrics and schools to acute care, memory care, and home health.

My work focuses on reviving the Arts and Crafts Movement and reimagining occupational science as a creative and collaborative framework for liberation, wellbeing, and ecological balance.

Before becoming an OT, I earned degrees in governmental advocacy and evolutionary field biology, and later completed a clinical master’s and later post-professional doctorate in occupational therapy with research in critical knowledge translation and implementation science.

Through the Evolved Living Podcast, I host dialogues with practitioners, scholars, and artists who are reshaping systems through creativity, inclusion, and care.

⚖️ Ethics & Transparency

This Substack is a space for scholarly and creative work, not for clinical communication or individualized therapeutic guidance.
It is independent of all employers, associations, and institutions.

While the content reflects my training as an occupational therapist, it is shared through the lens of public education, creative inquiry, and community reflection.
Readers are encouraged to interpret ideas with discernment and local context in mind.

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are occasionally used for editing or structure but never to replace human intuition, expertise, or care.
All final work is reviewed and authored in my own voice.
